Eco News Network presents our favorite eco-celeb of the week. We love seeing what celebrities are up to, and that doesn’t mean when it comes to movies, television or music albums, but with how they’re giving back to the planet. This week, music artist Ke$ha caught our eye. In addition to her musical talents, she loves the planet and its creatures. Check out how she protects Mother Earth.
Ke$ha definitely is not shy to make a statement in the musical world, and neither is she when it comes to the animal community and the environment.
Where to begin? Why don’t we start with her latest accomplishment.
At the end of March, she was was honored at the 2013 Genesis Awards, put on by The Humane Society of the United States, and received the prestigious Wyler Award.
This award is given to a celebrity who has gone above and beyond for animals. From speaking out for lions, sharks and seals, Ke$ha sings out her praises for all animals.
“It means so much to me to be recognized by The Humane Society of the United States because advocating for animals is second nature to me,” she said. “My affinity with animals and the natural world inspires me and my music. I don’t understand how anyone can justify abusing or exploiting animals, and as long as it continues, I intend to keep talking about it.”
It’s really no surprise, since Ke$ha is the Humane Society International’s first Global Ambassador for animals.
She’s also been very outspoken against testing cosmetics on animals, “To care so deeply about the suffering of animals so very far away, demonstrates something beautiful about the human spirit. So that’s why I’m writing this open letter to the global cosmetics industry, because beauty is supposed to symbolize something wonderful and pure and transformational; something that inspires us and makes us happy. “
Continuing with the animal theme, there are rumors the singer is even working on her very own faux fur line. So, keep your eyes peeled!
The unique singer has gone above and beyond for animals, and it doesn’t look like she’s going to stop any time soon.
